This evening, while parked up on Land Gate Lane, I was scanning the fields (or should that be the fences around the fields?) at Land Gate farm, when a 4x4 pulled up and wound down the window (do you still call it winding with electric windows?). The following conversation ensued:
Man in 4x4, "what are you doing?"
Me, "just birdwatching (pointing at binoculars in hand), why?"
4x4 Man, "'cuz I own all this land, what are you looking at?"
Me, "Birds"
4x4 Man, "what birds (lookin around him), there are no birds"

he had a point...

a Green Sandpiper on flooded part of the tip near Bamfurlong police station this afternoon, then flew towards Wigan Flashes. Info thanks to Jimmy Meadows.

I accidentally typed Wogan Flashes then. Maybe the flashes should be renamed to mark his retirement from radio 2 wink.gif
