1 Oystercatcher over,usual woodland birds around 8 Coot =1 family party with 6 young chicks(the largest brood i,ve seen) 30 House Martin and 30 swallows putting on a great display and flying down the paths avoiding me and the dog walkers by inches

29 Lapwing on the roof of First Manchester depot 128 Black-headed Gull and 1 Common Gull on the site of the now demolished Georgia Pacific warehouse. 1 Pochard (drake) with 6 Tufted Duck on the boating lake 1 Grey Wagtail in flight over the industrial estate

Midday wander 1 goosander on the lake only a flock of goldfinch in the reserve area the feeding station as busy as ever with cracking views of great spotted woodpecker,willow,coal,blue,great tit,girlie birding at it,s best
Early visit in the rain, girly birding againgood numbers of chaffinch,bullfinch,greenfinch,willow,coal,blue,longtailed,great tit,all at the feeding station. A quick look over the wetland area ,1 grey heron, 6 goldfinch,and a fox
A mid morning visit to the feeding station,all the usual garden birds,some exellent view,s of willow and coal tit at 1m greater spotted woodpecker at 2m ,upto 15 blue tits on the feeder at once (a little bit of girly birding)very pleasant and with the comfort of a bench and a roof sheer bliss

One of the volunteers told me today that there was a single Waxwing present yesterday (31/12/2010) near the entrance to the house from the car park. It wasn't there when I checked this morning, but there's plenty berries left, so worth checking if anyone's going.
lake mallard,coot,moorhen,farm ducks,bh gull and 32 very well fed mute swans feeders,delightful although there,s no food being put in coal,blue,willow,great tit,gs pecker and deep joy a very showy nuthatch wetland area 50 goldfinch, nothing else yet
there,s a 'birds seen here' tick list on the notice board and bittern has got a tick

2 Reed Buntings & 5 Bullfinches at the feeders
36 Mute Swans, 2 Tufted Ducks & 1 Pochard on the (still) half frozen Main Lake
2 Buzzards over Bryn Hall Farm 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 3 Coal Tits and 1 Willow Tit at the feeders. Many more Coal Tits around. 2 Kestrel 1 Great Black-backed Gull over 1 Grey Wagtail 8+ Pied Wagtail 1 Fieldfare, handful of Redwing and good numbers of Blackbirds 18 Mute Swans on the Main Lake.

4 Goosander (redhead), 1 Pochard, 1 Tufted Duck & 21 Mute Swans on the Main Lake, 4 Snipe, 33 Skylark & 1 Cormorant over the Wetland Area, 2 Buzzards & 11 Pied Wagtails in fields @ Bryn Hall Farm, 3 Willow Tits & 2 Coal Tits in the woodland.
When I did the WeBS there on Saturday all I got were 7 Teal, 1 Snipe and 2 Moorhens....
Well this must put it well above Parson`s Meadow, but slightly below Bradley Hall Pool in the Wigan Borough Top20 !?

A Kingfisher, c50 House Martins, a few Sand Martins and 2 Swifts at the Wetland Area today, before I was asked to leave as the area isn't yet open to the public. Lots of Horse Flies too

there was a healthy flock of mistle thrush on viridor wood today by the riding stables. didnt stop to count or check for other species (was jogging) but there must have been at least 40 in the one field.
