sunday late afternoon

2 herons nests with calling young
1 garden warbler with grub in beak
2 reed warblers singing
1 sedge warbler
1 pair reed bunting male very active .2 juv reed bunting one trying out it's flyng skills
lots of whitethroats

1 tree creper (heronry)
1 view of reed warlber , then the heavens opened so no visit to dole ees hmm.gif
1 drowned rat with mud on his bins

A very, very, brief visit to the the meadow pond and field this evening

2 singing Reed Warblers -one wearing a metal BTO ring on its right leg.
Surprisingly, no sound of any Groppers or Sedges.

late afternoon

2 reed warbler singing (1 viewed) possible 3
1 lesser whitethroat
6+ whitethroat
1 blackcap
chiff chaffs
1 reed bunting
could only view one juv heron , hard to see the nests now

last year there was a fair few sedge warblers nesting in chorlton ees so sign of them this year confused.gif

could only see 3 herons on nest , harder to see nests with more foliage , one was feeding three young
1 swallow over the mersey
1 comorant on the mersey catching a few small fish

Not seen at Chorlton Ees but have been noted on Barlow Tip at Chorlton Water Park.


Supposed to be a good area to see Willow Tit also at Chorlton Ees although I've not recorded any yet!

Stonechat (female) in the brambles in field chorlton ees , 3.00pm , never seen stonechat in this area before .Not much else about though.
