An early morning visit to Piethorne today was rewarded with excellent close-up sightings of a immature Little Grebe on Ogden Reservoir. This is only the 3rd record for this species in the valley in the last 4 years and apparently only the 4th record here since 1996!
Also on Ogden Res. - a male Goldeneye, a Kingfisher, 4 Teal and 3 redhead Goosanders. 2 Dippers were at the side of Hanging Lees Reservoir, including a singing bird. 2 Cormorants flew east over the valley and 1 was fishing on Piethorne Reservoir. Single Reed Bunting and Stonechat were also logged. c130 Fieldfares flew north over the valley at 10.20 a.m.
