Not bird related for a visit but of course no one quite knows what going on with Moore in the future....bypass, ports, Fiddlers Ferry knocked down etc.
So with a few minutes to spare at lunch and AI designed the new reserve in line (mostly) with what is mentioned in Warrington's local Development Plan until 2036.
It has cleared the Eastern Reedbed to make wader scrapes, reinvigorated the old canal, built the eastern bypass, stole the lagoons from Fiddlers Ferry and rebuilt them south of the river and (my choice as I do like Flycatchers and Redstarts) relocated Conwy Mountain to Upper Moss Side.
Lo and behold come 2031 North Cheshire's premier bird reserve!
(Joking apart I then wrote an AI APP to tell me the biodiversity gain / loss from the bypass / building over Fiddlers Ferry with warehouses / houses etc and it didn't come too far off the late 201xs proposal for Peel Port West being built over Moore and other biodiversity gains at Rixton and Woolston and turning the Capped tip into a country park to compensate.
