Over the past 30 years and, noticeably, the past 10-15 , I have noticed a huge decline in both the number and size of rookeries in Northern England. In Manchester they have disappeared, or reduced significantly, from Middleton, Heston Park, Whitefield and Heywood. I was looking around West Yorkshire over past few days and they have gone or reduced massively all over the area. When I was back in my old home area north of Lancaster the story is the same. I assume farming practices, house building and other development and maybe bird flu have all contributed to this decline. Wondered if others have noticed this situation where they live. Quite disturbing.
