Amberswood LNR (other wildlife)

Just viewing this thread again, and it's clear that at least two Norfolk hawkers were present at Amberswood. Doc Brewsters photo which was taken in the morning of my visit clearly shows damage to both sets of wings. This is not evident in either Andy's photo or mine, although it's not so easy to see in my photo because of the angle of the insect.

Was happy and relieved to add Norfolk hawker to my county list today. In contrast with the previous two posts, it was not seen at all from 10:30 until 1:30, then suddenly sprang into action for an audience of 4. A nice image to take away from this awful local Summer for insects. Also saw c10 red-eyed damselflies, 6 brown hawkers, 3 black-tailed skimmers, many common darters and 1-2 Southern Hawkers. A single red admiral and peacock were also noted amongst the butterflies. Almost like the old days.

I was there this morning and yes showed well, getting more active as the temperatures rose!! As expected! I saw 1 Green-eyed (Norfolk) Hawker but definitely at least 2 were photographed today. My digiscoped shot attached.

At least one Norfolk hawker dragonfly in the ditch along the south west edge of the lake. Very elusive at times this afternoon but apparently showed better in the morning. Third consecutive year for this species at the site so may be breeding.
