RE: Local Big Year - celebrating the joy of local birding

I'm now on 104 species, mainly in the Oldham and Rochdale boroughs, with some forays to exotic locations such as Manchester and Salford!

Highlights - Spotted Sandpiper Elton Reservoir, Knot Ashworth Moor Reservoir, Red-throated Diver Watergrove Reservoir, North American Wood Duck and Caspian Gull Alexandra Park, Oldham, Whooper Swan Blackstone Edge Reservoir, Great Egrets on Hollingworth Lake and Audenshaw Reservoirs, Little Egrets on Wince Brook, Hollingworth Lake and River Irwell, Pink-footed Geese on the Rochdale Canal, Barnacle Goose in the Piethorne Valley, Mediterranean Gull Hollingworth Lake, Australian Black Swan Audenshaw Reservoirs and Mandarin Duck Fog Lane Park.

Just wondering if anyone in Greater Manchester, or Lancashire / Cheshire, is doing the Birdguides / Birdwatch magazine new initiative, Local Big Year.

If so, what is your patch and what are your highlights of the year so far ?
