Two singing Chiffchaff around the perimeter of the fields were the highlight this afternoon. Sad to see much of the vegetation has been ripped out, but at least works have stopped for now...
A quiet half hour 1:45pm to 2:15pm when even the jays were missing. The only sign of passage migration were a female blackcap joining the tit flock by the stadium and sixteen swallows overhead.
Hobby - 3 sightings involving 2 birds. A bird flew low overhead at 09.15, arriving from the north, then flew over to Longford Park. At 09.25 a bird flew from Longford Park, overhead, heading east into Chorlton. At 11.10 a bird flew straight overhead N > S.

Redstart 1 male in NW corner elder (adjacent Longford Park) 09.05, elusive and not seen subsequently (exactly a year to the day since the last Redstart here)

It's been a while since I've been here, I've sort of avoided Longford Park for a while 'cos I get cross about what Trafford Council did to the hall. I remember Rye Bank as two big mowed fields, it's become really interestingly overgrown.
No luck with migrants on a lunchtime visit but a very nice mixed tit flock worked its way through the sallows at the Rye Bank Road end. Definitely worth a repeat visit or three.
This site lies adjacent to Longford Park, Stretford, but is in Manchester M21, owned by MMU and under threat of development.
07.30 -11.30 (later joined by Phil Kelly & Tony O'Mahony) The most productive area this morning was the corner of Longford Road by the brick building.
