Hiya Mike, Wild Swan Geese are rare birds from the Russia / China border area.
It's from these that the domestic Chinese Goose is descended ...... now some people / countries refer to these as "Chinese Swan Goose" or just to add to the confusion "Swan Goose". Think you had better take your DNA kit with you.

In preparation for a trip to Bavaria in a few weeks I have been looking at sightings in the area I am going to.Mostly usually UK fare with the odd Nutcracker or Black Woodpecker to whet my appetite. But I have just seen a record from Monday of 5 Swan Geese.... I may not be a great birder but I thought I had heard of most things from watching telly or hanging round real birders, so had to google this one. Would these be escapes do you think?
