RE: Ring-necked parakeets

Take a look at the thread called Greater Manchester Ring-necked Parakeets where you will see all sightings.

A long wait. I have not seen or heard ring-necked parakeets in Prestwich. However, I did see them, years ago, visiting a feeder in a garden near the old Man U training ground near The Cliff on the Irwell River. A cockatiel visited too and these birds were believed to be local escapees. More recently I have seen and heard them in the forest area of The Cliff (where the Irwell makes a sharp 'U-turn. I have heard them in trees on the grounds of some high rise flats (Floral Court) on Bury New Road (opposite Devonshire St junction).

Today I heard one in Heaton Park and after trying to locate it I saw it fly over the boating lake. I have only ever seen and heard individual birds but I suspect breeding has occurred.

Has anyone seen/reported seeing ring-necked parakeets on the North side of town yet? I live in Prestwich and have been told that a mini-group of three have been seen in a couple of large adjacent gardens nearby.
