Just returned from a 2 week holday, 23 July-6th August, staying at Skala in hotel Paspalis, not the best place for birding I've ever been too but here is a list of what I saw from early morning walks around Skala, 1 day out with a hire car and a boat trip too Ithacus. 24 July, hotel area; Collared Dove, Barn Swallow, House Martin(nesting on Hotel), House Sparrow, Yellow-legged Gull, Jay, Magpie. 25 July, hotel area; 60+ Bee-eater, Buzzard, Sardinian Warbler, Blackbird, Blue Tit, Goldfinch. 26 July, hotel area; Great Tit, Red-rumped Swallow, Blue Rock Thrush. 28 July, hotel area; Hooded Crow, Sparrowhawk, Woodchat Shrike. 30 July, Ithacus; Starling, Feral Pigeon and wild Goats. 31 July, Aenos National Park; Kestrel, Black-eared Wheatear. Marsh at top of Argostoli gulf; Black-winged Stilt(many with young), Grey Heron, Little Egret, Swift, Crested Lark, Coot, Zitting Cisticola, Greenshank(a real surpris to see this). Tzanata res.; Little Grebe, Moorhen, Common Sandpiper. 3 August, hotel area; Hoopoe. 6 August, on roof of hotel; Little Owl. A total of 37 species in all. Cheers Ian
