Whixhall Moss

10.00-13.00

1 Buzzard, 3 Kestrels, 3 Meadow Pipits plus a few Reed Bunting and

Common Whitethroats. The most numerous birds are Black Headed

Gulls which are constantly flying over the moss.

The main quest was for Adders, but despite finding numerous pieces

of black corrugated sheeting set around the moss, no basking snakes

were found. Each sheet however had an ants nest beneath hit.

4 Common Lizards were found basking, and a few frogs hopping about.

Large Heath, Small Heath, Meadow Brown and Small Skipper butterflies are

numerous.
