Not long since come back from another trek around Merseyvale Nature Park, Stockport with my two youngest daughters. Not the most elusive of birds, I know, but was surprised to see a female pheasant fly up from the bank of the river near the sewage works. Not seen pheasants round there before and just wondered if anyone else had spotted any? Perhaps there's a male lurking? A great days birding with most of the other usual suspects: kingfisher (only the second sighting for my daughters), goosanders, cormorants, long-tailed tits, wrens, herons, moorhens, buzzards, wagtails, etc. etc.
