Had an hour or so down at Milner Street this afternoon. 60+ Waxwings showing reasonably well at times but rather skittish and spent much of the time perched at the top of the taller trees. About 1.15pm they decided they'd had enough of the attention and disappeared for about half an hour or so before returning.

Nice to see a good selection of fellow Mancy birders down there too including John Tymon, Dennis Atherton and Martyn Jones. A lovely social occasion!

Fantastic views of a flock of circa 60 waxwings in Lancaster [White Lund industrial estate] this morning at sunrise - feeding on fallen berries until a female Sparrowhawk went through the flock and the industrial estate got busy, after which they dispersed. Best spot was to park in the cash and carry car park and watch from the car.

I managed a short (5min) journey from home today & caught up with 40 Waxwings still south of Northwich off the A556 bypass near Roberts Bakery at Gadbrook Park Business Park at 10.35am. As I said before when you are on the A556 just look for the well known spiral bread cooler landmark & turn into the Business Park there, the birds were in a tree immediatly to the right. Waxings also reported nearby flying over Northwich town centre, at Barnton also and in Tarvin.

20 waxwings still at Milner Street at 4pm and interestingly a few fieldfares in the trees with berries by B&QI have a feeling the main flock could be on Bank park about 400 yards east of milner street as that is were they kept dissapearing to both yesterday and today.

Early report this morning of 25+Waxwings still on the southern edge of Northwich off the A556 bypass near Roberts Bakery at Gadbrook Park Business Park, numbers here got up to 80 yesterday. Finally caught up with them today at Milner St,3 hours watching them this afternoon,Biggest count was 68,but I recon there are probably 75+ as some were coming and going,shame the sun didn't stay out for the pics,but nice to see them 300 yards from home.A few other birders poped in and out during the afternoon,and a few risley moss regulars.The birds were very flighty and only about every 25 mins did they venture down to the berry trees,and then only for seconds.They remain mainly in the tall trees at the furniture store.

11 Waxwings in Lymm this morning at 9.20. Heard the calls as I was changing out of my wellies at the back of my van. Looked around and there they were. Watched them for a few minutes and two even dropped into the tree three yards away. They were quite flighty though and soon departed.

Just had an email telling me that there were still 60 waxwings at the Milner Street location this afternoon - so still looking good!! Looks like very few folk are actually reporting this flock out anywhere, as this email was in response to me asking for info on your behalf to a local birder!!

No reports as yet from Warrington on the pager, John, or on the Facebook site that I am a moderator on (North West Birding). But it could just be that they are still there & those that have seen them are not the reporting type!! Good luck, if I hear anything I will post on here

Any at Milner st Warrington today anyone? looking like they will not be there when im off at the weekend,but still seemed to be lots of berries when I drove past in the dark last night,still not seen any pics from warrington,so maybe they are not in the best place for pics?anyone sees any today or particularly tomorrow morning please post,don't assume everyone knows they are still there.

Waxwings present in Milner st Warrington 3pm -3-45pm today and they had a visitor! A Sparrowhawk flew towards the small tree as the birds were feeding. The Waxwings took flight and the Sparrowhawk landed in the tree and then left. 10 mins later the Waxwings returned and started to feed in the same tree. The Sparrowhawk struck again but was unsuccessful. The Waxwings had gone when I left at 3 45pm.

Good to see you too Nick and to meet Mike Baron again, plus the other local birders.

66 (counted by Mike) were still at Milner St. when I left at 12.45, but the light was poor for photos etc.

However, both Starlings and Mistle Thrushes are also feeding on these berries, but hopefully they will last until those stuck in work can connect.

Whats feels wierd for me is I only live 300 yards from Milner street,and can only get there in the dark,as im on 7-5 all week

Between 50 and 60 Waxwings present at Milner st Warrington 14-30pm today. One of the staff at World of Furniture came to a group of us to say they have a coffee shop upstairs should anyone need a warm drink. Price is £1. The birds were in the tall trees by the car park.

Plenty of berries left so they should stay around for a while.

8 Waxwings,feeding on berries at RSPB Old Moor,car park,this morning at11:00.Great views from these very confiding birds,but they flew off towards the mere after about 5 mins.

Loads in Preston today, they seemed to be going between Victoria Rd and Euston St. I started at Euston with about 30 birds in and around, some berry trees (loads of berries left), but a territorial Mistle Thrush limited photo opportunities and scared all the birds off in the direction of the university. I picked them up (after wandering round for ages) at Victoria Street, lots more berries and around 100 birds present. But they went off again, and were back at Euston st! Watched them another 10 minutes or so and then got train back. Swear I had them on Leyland platform too, so if you're out that way might be worth a look.

Around ten birds seen at oliver twinsafe in knutsford today by my brother Pete.jammy beggar was getting a flock of thirty-forty birds regularly visiting his garden two years ago!
