late posting this. went up last monday hoping to find a tawny owl which had been seen recently with young. felt like we checked every tree in the whole wood but no owl tawny owls are becoming our bogey bird!! however we got stunning views of a kingfisher sat perched on a post from hide at back of visitor centre. eventually it flew off and another 1 followed it. also seen nuthatch and great spotted woodpecker but hardly any ducks.
also had a visit to marsh side and was great to see the avocets with chicks. good to see they are doing well
