The Clegg Hall Fisheries bird was present 27th and 28th March and took Rainbow Trout. I spoke to the fisheries manager today. (Thanks to Simon Hitchen for info from the Rochdale Observer)

See, you rush a report so people know about it, you write it really badly. The observer was me, walking home. Just near Grecian Mill.
I always have a little pair of compact bins in my bag, so I had a decent look. Nothing else it could be. Utter fluke, but there you go. Complete shock to see it like that, I've only ever seen them at known and recognised nest sites.
I'd assume it was simply on a migratory route, though it's probably a little odd it was effectively heading from inland towards the West.

I was on the Roy Dennis website yesterday and one of the ones that gets tracked flew into the uk on the 30th. It was averaging about 230 km a day. So maybe??? Would be a great spot.

When I was at the Town Hall in Rochdale yesterday, a couple of men who were looking at one of the peregrines said an osprey had visited Clegg Hall Fisheries a few days ago and had taken a fish or two. Someone there has photos they said.
Not much use for alerting anyone to possible sightings, but an Osprey was seen heading WNW over Great Lever about 16:30. Heading in the approximate direction of Rumworth Lodge, but that doesn't mean that's where it was going.
