An Out-of-County one : On 6th Dec 2006 a Woodcock held up play until it was carried off the pitch during the Newcastle - Reading match at St. James's Park.
Wasn't it Maine Rd that held the waders after City had moved to Wastlands (or was that Middle - Eastlands!).
I thought Woodcock played for Notts Forest (one for the older readers there). Also being a pedant as I am, isn't the plural of stadium stadia (not quoted in this actual post)?
As a sports photographer working at the big stadiums in Manchester and the region on a weekly basis I shall keep my eyes open :)
Technically though, posting photographs taken inside football league stadia will land you in trouble with the Data Co body!
Old Trafford has a family of mice that appear on the pitch every now and again.. they did the other week and were photographed by Getty, not sure if they were published or not though!

a kestrel was found dead by the groundsman at the athletics stadium which is 50 yards from the dw stadium.so very likely its one of the stadium birds.i see them at every home match even night games.
The area last year and the year before was a fenced off patch of ground, not very large, just to the left of a ramp or slope that led up to the entrance.

At the Reebok I have seen Kestrel a few times during floodlit matches and once saw a Peregrine fly in to watch the match. You would expect throstles to be at WBA.
various important ground nesting birds at Manchester City's ground
I spent all yesterday morning on a combined training exercise in and around the Eastlands Stadium with work and it appeared to me that the open land which was around the stadium appeared to be either built on now or used for matchday parking. After a short trip around the area after the exercise I couldn't see any areas either suitable or practically useable for those ground nesting species anymore?
Mistle Thrush feeding 2+ young high up in the roof of the stand inside Old Trafford today (10 March 2010) during the Man United vs Fulham match. I have photos taken from the crowd, but the site doesn't seem to want to let me upload them.

What with Ravens and Kestrels at JJB now DW at Wigan, various important ground nesting birds at Manchester City's ground and rumours of Peregrines roosting at Bolton, maybe this is a thread quite a few will contribute to?
This must be quite a regular site as I remember a family party of mistle thrushes actually being on the pitch (on the far side) before a Man Utd v Coventry match about 25 years ago (I remember it was Coventry because I supported them). I'm not sure the young were fully fledged so I was not hopeful that they got away before I lost sight of them. Cov won though, so everything was great!!!
I have a vague recolection of regulalry seeing a 2 Mistle Thrush at Old Trafford during my Stretford End Days and flying to an area which was probably a nest.

There are around 40,000 Great Tits at Eastlands every other week...... ....................................................................... Nice one Matt, often felt like a Great Tit , but at City they are all BLUE. Cheers Ian
