RE: Birds in football stadiums

Male Kestrel was flying around under the Stretford End roof at Old Trafford yesterday, just before end of match. It eventually flew up to the back and stayed there hidden from view. presumably roosting.

I don't mind some banter chaps but this thread now has nothing to do with birds whatsoever and has no place on this discussion forum. Plus, I hate football and don't bang in about rugby wink

I was invited to the Etihad by an old business contact today. Enjoyed the hospitality and the match apart from the result. As well as a few feral pigeons flying around there was one Diver sp on the pitch that gave a really impressive display mid-way through the second half hmm

Admittedly not quite in the stadium but a Chiffchaff was joining in the singing with thousands of fans just outside Old Trafford this evening as United's trophy parade began.smile

Pair of Mistle Thrushes were feeding young in the roof of the Sir Alex Ferguson stand yesterday - completely unfazed by the racket created by 75000 + fans.

Peregrine falcon over the Reebok stadium during this afternoon's victory over Burnley It (or another one?) was in attendance during the FA Cup match against Everton a couple of weeks ago too. It does a good job keeping the pigeons away, although I would like it to swoop down and take a useless C Eagles off the pitch

Hi Ollie, thought derby were unlucky, up until the first goal , the match could have gone either way.

Reebok stadium last night, pair of kestrels in the north stand, at least one bat flying about. highlights of the night, better than the footy.

Only a couple of Black-headed Gulls at Old Trafford for Japan vs Egypt. No sign of Egyptian Goose on way to match but Egypt's goose probably cooked after sending off!

At Etihad last night, just before half time Peregrine flew to land under roof corner North and East stand then to centre of North Stand roof for rest of match. This is the second game running I've seen this, wonder if it's got a season ticket.
Cheers Ian

Very very good, Phil. I like it. Good to see you maintaining your sense of humour.

Early start tomorrow to see us play Spurs at home. I am hoping NOT to see eleven cockerels crowing at five to three.

The best of British at the Emirates

I think it is indeed time to change your binoculars Dave.

I'm a City fan who was also at the game and having seen the replay, it wasn't a Meadow Pipit or a Lesser-Spotted Dzeko even.

Being at The Ethiad Stadium, Manchester, it had to be a Great Northern Diver didn't it?.

something thats really puzzled me for years. being a long suffering bluenose, during the many many boring games me and my mate used to watch various gull species land on the park end stand but they never ever landed on the bullens road stand or the main stand ( i.e the stands with the floodlights on the roof) though bizzarely last year a cormarent briefly landed on the end light. can anyone shed any light please. thanks
