Having now calmed down a bit, I think that maybe my remarks yesterday might be seen to be rather negative.
Whilst this forum is not the place to enter details of nest sites, many of us get great pleasure from studying this aspect of birds' lives and we can put our observations of nesting behaviour to good use.
One: enter details of breeding birds as Roving Records on the Bird Atlas website (the 3rd recording period for breeding season records starts tomorrow): www.birdatlas.net or via www.bto.org
Two: send your records to Judith Smith, GM County Recorder (details on this website under Who's Who).
Apologies for putting this in the sightings section, but I think more people read this bit.
Need I remind users of this forum to it's policy regarding the disclosure of ANY breeding birds?
It appears that the all important 'sticky' topics at the top of this forum don't get read very often and many new users haven't even bothered to read them. Please do. They are very important and not only save me time and effort editing posts and chasing users not using their 'real' names but much more importantly are there to prevent disturbance to our birds.
Further more, we should really be giving consideration at this time to potential nesters at this time of year and the disclosure of sensitive information. If in doubt please contact me first before posting, my phone is available day or night
Despite Ian's reminder, and the "sticky" note at the top of the page, people are still posting locations of breeding birds on this forum
There have been 2 posts already today of Scedule 1 species' nest sites. One of them even said "I'm not sure if I should post this..." and then posted it.
Most of you have never seen me when I get angry....
