Male sparrowhawk in my garden in Clifton today. He swooped through the garden around 8am then returned at 2pm and perched on my neighbours shed for around 20 minutes.
Common Sandpiper flew over my back garden just above house height at 11 -45 am.I was at my back door watching birds on the feeders when I heard it calling. First for my garden.
Post for yesterday 9.30 am . A skein of Pink Footed Geese over our house heading S E totalling 51. 10 am 62 Starlings on the wires behind our house accompanied by 12 Goldfinches The Starlings then descended en masse and tried to land on a one foot square bird table. A days worth of bird food demolished in 2 minutes
I was sitting in my back garden watching a juvenile dunnock foraging amongst the vegetables when it decided to fly into my kitchen .It was safely caught and released. A quarter of an hour later it was back amongst the vegetables .
House Sparrow. The first one for two years since the guy behind our house cut down his Leylandii. I just hope they are returning. there are quite a few mature bushes behind our house so heres hoping. .

7 goldfinches,1 robin, 2 dunnocks,3 blackbirds, 1 coal tit,5 collared doves, 5 starlings, and 1 sparrowhawk swooping at great speed in an attempt to murder a starling fortunately it did not succeed !!! but what a sight !!
Yes, quite normal for Collared Doves to start this early. Am always interested in nests built on structures such as satellite dishes, security lights (it would be illegal to disturb them once they were sitting). They are liable to get predated by crows and magpies though.

We had a pair prospecting for nest sites in the gardens at the back of our's yesterday [they like next doors security light bracket but I have a nasty feeling last year when they'd started building the start of the nest was removed ]. I guess they start early?
