Late news for yesterday afternoon when two 3W Yellow-legged Gulls and an adult Mediterranean Gull roosted, plus a Little Egret flew into Millstone Willows at 4:13pm.
Adult yellow-legged gulls have a red orbital ring. I can not see this in the photo.
Hi Mike, YLGs difficult birds at the best of times, probably not the best feature to use (as a single feature) as most of the large white headed Gulls can show an orbital ring of some red hue or another. Structure, head shape, general jizz, mantle, facial streaking etc would be a wiser option to build a better picture of what the bird is.

This is probably the closest thread for this sighting as the location is virtually at the end of the lower reservoir.
