Two Buzzards crossing the valley from Ravens Wood direction, then cruising over Ladybridge, fairly close to my Back Garden...... A very raucous Black-headed Gull in attendance around them.

Regularly over the last few days; a small number of Swallows feeding at very low level around the flats on Armadale Road. Today they were alongside my vehicle as I drove past and often crossing in front of me at below bonnet height! (Next to the flats is the copse and the flats are surrounded by lawn)

Large number of Gulls wheeling low over the centre in the evening sunshine, with some feeding off St. Bernard's School Playing Field. At 5.40pm ( today) I estimated c 120. Mainly Black-headed Gulls but at least 5 Common Gulls.

We had 15 of the fieldfare in our garden yesterday as we did our RSPB birdwatch and also a flock of 10 long tailed, what a fluke, first time we have had fieldfare all winter and also the largest number of longtailed.
Circa 20 Swifts seen over Ladybrige, from my garden, at 6.35 this evening...... eventually they moved across Middlebrook to feed high over Heaton, but still visible from this garden.
.....Just had a recount at 7.10 pm, now c50 Swifts.

Just popped down to see them before MOT DAY for my Vehicle. A restless flock of 20 plus Fieldfare arrived at 8.55 am. Landing on the trees at the bottom of Rimsdale Walk and doing fly abouts and returning. I presume they are waiting for all the school and centre traffic to subside before feeding.

HI Keith, thanks must give credit where due, my partner Lisa found them whilst going to the shop....and those waxwings, would love to see them back (in the very same berry bush!!)
Flock of 40+ Fieldfare (and a couple of Redwing) at the bottom of Rimsdale Walk, Ladybridge, Bolton. Feeding on the berry bushes adjacent to Ladybridge Community Centre at 1630. Great to see just around the corner from home :)

Well done Julian, I checked the adjacent Lombardy Poplars out this morning for Waxwing, but drew a blank.(Remembering, Forty two Waxwing here last Winter and one in my Ladybridge garden!)

I was out most of the day but didn't see them again on my return home about 3.00pm I did have a mooch round the nearby gardens and also round Rumworth but no further sightings. They were in the trees at the bottom of the garden for about 20 minutes around 9.00am I didn't see them feeding, but some of the trees do have berries.
Pete, if you saw a birder running up and down your street this afternoon it was probably Paul Heaton and he reports no further sign of the Waxwings. Warford senior also drew a blank in other nearby locations.
Great bird for your garden Pete. Look forward to seeing your video footage. Waxwings have a tendancy to occur more often in built up areas rather than in open fields with hedges and prefer rowans and other small berry bushes as opposed to hawthorns (although they will eat hawthorns). They usually end up in town centres, for example the car park around Morrisons(no berries there though ive checked) or Argos in Bolton. They could still be around your street or estate so worth keeping an eye out.
3 waxwings in the garden this morning, as we live only a few hundred yards from Rumworth, I wouldn't be surprised to find others there, as the hedgerows are covered in berries. I will check later.
