A single Hobby seen flying high over Houghton Lane, Swinton, 2020hrs this evening. The general flight direction would take it onto the mosslands of Irlam and Astley.
2 seen from the Manchester Airport Viewing Park. Flew around together, then easterly towards the airport terminals and lost from sight. This is all on the Manchester side of the airport.
Had a single Hobby chasing Swallows right on the Cheshire/Manchester boundary where the Bollin crosses the Ashley Road from Hale on Saturday afternoon.
Whilst it seems likely that Hobby's are breeding in the county (somewhere ) it will be very difficult to prove due to their secretive nature when breeding and many of the recent 'southern county' sightings could just as easily relate to breeders just over the border in Cheshire. Either way John is right and this forum has a no tolerance policy with regards the exposure or public discussion of any nesting species without prior conversation with myself first, any such posts will be dealt with vigerously. The discussion of birds such as Hobby in specific locations where breeding could be a potential or likely prospect should also not be posted on this forum as this can lead egg thiefs to these sites and one shouldn't underestimate their prowess at finding nests even in large areas, many have more patience and much more experience than ourselves!
Hobby(Adult) again hunting on fields 98/99 next to Barton Airport flew off towards Bontany Bay woods this afternoon at 1630, they must be breeding local has anybody pin-pointed a possible location?
