Pair of yellowhammers at the feeding station, pair of Great crested grebe, still around 8 or 9 waxwings by the entrance. Also willow tit, chiffchaff and willow warbler.
Glorious morning from 8-9. Highlights being a pair of yellowhammers,a pair of great crested grebes, male bullfinch, blackcaps, willow warblers, chiffchaffs, a single willow tit and waxwings still.
As well as the 60+ Waxwings (and Sparrowhawk) I've reported on their specific thread, I also saw the following birds at the feeding station here:
Male Brambling
Male Reed Bunting
Greenfinch
Several Male and Female Chaffinches
2 Dunnocks
2 Robins
3 Blackbirds
Woodpigeon
Long-tailed Tit
Blue Tit
Great Tit
There were also several Chiffchaffs in the nearby trees and two pairs of Great Crested Grebes doing part of their mating dance on the pools. A pair of Coots was also busy nest building and there were a few Mallards and Canada Geese sunning themselves on the banks of the water.
Walked to the Water Park from Highfield and passed the Waxwings (estimate about 90) at 10am. Sat at the bird feeding station for 20 minutes and saw: 1 pair Blackcap 2 Siskin 6 Blackbird (which appear larger than our Derbyshire ones) 3 Brambling 6 Chaffinch 1 Pair Green Finch 1 Pair Bullfinch 2 Robin 1 Willow Warbler 2 Chiffchaff singing 1 Sparrowhawk which just about put an end to our birding.
What a superb little spot.

The pair on the 2nd lake treated my wife to her first view of the courtship display - she thought it was really cute !!
A Coots nest in the centre of the 1st lake. Female incubating. They'll have to be careful with any change overs as there seems to be a large flock of Black Headed Gulls in residence. At least a dozen Canada Geese on the 1st lake as well.
The feeding station was populated by Chaffinches and very little else.

A flock of about 40 Waxwings in trees by the car park (upper lake end) about 6pm. Feeding on fruit left in lower branches, great views of them. A 1st for me :) Also Reed Bunting and Willow Tit near feeding station.
Only one great crested grebe on the upper lake this morning. Other birds seen, female kingfisher, good numbers of reed bunting and yellowhammer, 2 brambling, a male bullfinch, siskin and a willow tit. Around 20 waxwings were trilling high in the trees close to the feeders.
A quick hour from 8am this morning. A wren in full chorus greeted me on the car park. Great crested grebes courting again on the upper lake, a yellowhammer, a brambling and plenty reed buntings on the brook. The feeding station was deserted. No siskins for me this morning.
A beautiful morning at Orrell water park this morning, plenty of siskins around the alder trees, a single fieldfare, and a pair of courting great crested grebes performing their dance. At the feeding station, a few bramblings still present, a male bullfinch, and along the brook, a female yellowhammer, reed buntings, a grey wagtail and a brief flyby kingfisher.
Still a few Brambling at the feeding station, a pair of yellowhammers over the brook and a pair of Great crested grebes on the upper lake. Other birds seen, coal tit and a siskin in the pine trees between the lakes.
Beautiful hour from 9am. Highlights were a great crested grebe on the upper lake, a willow tit and about 5 brambling at the feeding station, and reed buntings and a pair of yellowhammers around the brook.
At the feeders :- Willow Tit Reed bunting Greenfinch Chaffinch Blue Tit Great Tit
Many many Robin singing. Sadly no Brambling or Kingfisher but this was compensated by a fine male Grey Wagtail on the bottom reservoir where it flows out of the park.
The feeders were being replenished when I arrived this morning.
Sadly no Bramblings for me. Lots of Chaffinches, Long Tailed Tits,Blue and Great Tits plus a Coal Tit and a Starling. Highlights would be a Willow Tit and a pair of Greenfinches.
Two pairs of Canada Geese on the main lake with several Coots, a Moorhen and loads of Mallards.
Kingfisher showing quite well again this morning 10am, she's become a bit of a celebrity now with the dog walkers. I understand she's even survived a brush with a sparrowhawk...(They breed em tough in Wigan)
Other birds of note include bramblings, Long-tailed Tit and a few Reed Buntings.
