Today 12 - 2pm

Grey Heron, Mallard (30+), Black -headed Gull (c 40), Canada Goose (15), Great crested Grebe (2)

Robin,Wren, Greenfinch, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Coal Tit, Long-tailed Tit, Willow Tit (1)

Yellowhammer (2), Chiffchaff (6), Goldcrest (2), Blackbird, Carrion Crow, Magpie, Jay and Skylark singing over field near Park Road.

Early afternoon walk in bright sunshine yielded:-

Yellowhammer (2), Chiffchaff (6), Goldcrest (2), Great crested Grebe (2)

Plus several Robin, Wren, Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Chaffinch, Dunnock, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Coal Tit

A minimum count of 27 Snipe in the same winter cereal field between the water park and Winstanley College playing fields again today.

Water Rail showing well in the Greenslate Meadows LNR at Orrell Water Park, in the swamp between the lakes and feeding station, also in that area Grey Wagtail, Willow Tit and a male Siskin on the feeders. Drake Mandarin on the island of the upper reservoir

Walk around the Water `park and surrounding fields 12- 2pm today yielded:-

Drake Mandarin (lower reservoir)

c30 Canada Geese

2 Great crested Grebe

c40 Black headed Gull

2 Mistle Thrush

On feeders:- Chaffinch, Greenfinch,Blue Tit, Great Tit, Coal Tit, Nuthatch, Robin, Dunnock - alas no Brambling but 3 brown rats!

Plenty blackcap and chiffchaff at a very busy OWP. Also a pair of bullfinch, a willow tit, a kestrel and a pair of nuthatch on a quick visit this pm.

I got there around 4 due to road blocks and no sign of the waxwing. I had a walk around the water park and saw only:
4 domestic ducks
47 mallards
3 great crested grebes
4 coots
7 black headed gulls
Several small flocks of goldfinch.

Waxwing was in trees opposite the garden at 09.30 but flew off over the houses about 10 mins later.

Waxwing present at 3.45 today, in the trees inside the water park opposite the garden. Seemed very content preening itself and watching the other garden birds feeding. Lovely bird.

Yep I was told that Rob, that's excellent news. I was also told that more problems occur in the week, not at weekends when a pallet can (if needed) be put across the drive to make it more obvious that it's a private property. I have had emails regarding this, so it is an appeal from the residents, not just idle speculation. But I am sure that members on here, having read Ians posts are behaving better than some visitors from further afield who may not read this forum and therefore not be aware of any requests made on here. I have contacted the pagers again to add the request about staying out of gardens, and they put that out in their message today smile

...impeccable behaviour yesterday from everyone whilst I was there. I can 100% categorically state that I didn't see anyone enter any gardens yesterday.
