Hi Andy, it seems to be contagious, as the Council owned bit of Kirk Wood at Chadkirk has just been dessimated.

Anyone with a soft spot for Etherow C.P. might wish to know that large scale felling of the conifers (and some beech trees) is to be carried out in Ernocroft Wood soon. Unfortunately, I am lead to believe that this will now commence some time in April!! This will make the chances of hearing/seeing the likes of redstart and wood warbler in the immediate vacinity almost nil, not to mention the probable destruction of the nests of many 'common' breeding birds.

If you want to show your disgust for this venture (as you ought to), please make your feelings known to the Environmental department of Stockport Council now!!
