Wednesday: attempted Atlas Timed Tetrad Visit aborted halfway due to rain (part of survey route obscured by low cloud).
Made the best of a bad job by collecting Roving Records. 36 countable species recorded (some in Greenfield) 5 with confirmed breeding status: Magpie, Wood Pigeon, Heron, Moorhen and Canada Goose. Also located 2 more Dipper nests.
Pair of Brambling engaged in courtship behaviour counts as "probable breeding" but I suppose it's highly improbable!
Too wet for Atlas TTVs yesterday (Weds 17th). After spending most of the morning entering up last year's records for Judith, then visiting the dentist, I could stand it no more and ventured out into the soggy world. Rewarded by flushing a Woodcock on Heron Lane just two minutes walk from home - first ever seen in Mossley in 25 years residence there.
