12 Tufted Duck on the lake, a couple of Willow Tits and a flyover Crossbill (amazingly the first one Ive seen in Wigan!) were the best birds this morning, although there is obviously a sizeable tit flock doing the rounds but it was impossible to see due to a combination of distance and leaf cover.

Jack Snipe with 6 Common Snipe. Flushed from first field on left from Spring View Community Sports end; behind Marlborough Av./Chatsworth Av. Other species present on Amberswood site included:
Nice hour at first light 0430 - 0530, highlights dawn chorus with chiffchaff, blackcap, whitethroat and a reeling grasshopper warbler. as well as the locals, cuckoo north west of lake, but also heard in the direction of low hall [ could have been the same bird ].
cuckoo heard calling 0530, towards the north end of lake. resident pair of bullfinch very active, 2 blackcap , 2 whitethroat, 1 chiffchaff, old railway line,
2 independent juvenile Little Grebes on the lake. Evidence of lateish Reed Warbler breeding activity this morning - with birds still present in 4 locations, juveniles heard calling at two of these and an adult seen carrying food at one of these two locations.
