Little ringed plovers in field off Dodd's Farm Lane for about a week now, numbers have now increased to six.

My usual field off Hall Lane!  Pair of Little Egret feeding in large pond all day today.

My usual field off Hall Lane, Aspull.  Pair of Curlew last week, Oystercatchers and  Mediterranean Gulls daily. Highlight this morning was a brief visit of a single Common Ringed Plover, first for me in this area.  Late afternoon, Ringed Plover returned with juvenile.

2 Tree Sparrow today at Dodd's Farm Lane, among a magnificent flock of approx 120 House Sparrow, in a hedgerow and feeding in adjacent barley

Fields behind Bolton Road, Aspull, Wigan:- 50+ Fieldfare, several Redwing and Mistle Thrush.  Pheasant, 8 Grey Partridge, Carrion Crows, Kestrel and flock of approx 15 Linnets.

A single garden warbler was present most of the day in a mature garden , feeding high up in scycamore tree,s and singing regular , i spotted the bird once , also had willow warbler singing in the same area a week ago and a fly through woodcock several weeks ago , the garden is in quite a built up area .

Not far from the finger post , birds spotted , 2 buzzard , 1 sparrowhawk , mixed flock of long tailed tit , 1 treecreeper , goldcrest and coal tit.

162 Mallard rammed on to a pond at Walker's Lower Farm yesterday. The farmer said they were wild birds attracted by feeding, with only a few white call ducks having been put on there.

(2 Raven, 1 Kestrel and 2 Common Buzzard visible around Montcliffe Quarry, 3 miles away at 35x magnification)

inspired by the thought of hearing a quail(a big gm blocker these days) i took a walk through the sheep fields(see quail report) and over towards the reebok stadium all the usual wren robin etc,plus 1 oyster catcher and 3 yellowhammer,another lovely bit of gm exploredbiggrin.gif.obviously no quailhmm.gif
