3 Red Kite went over the Coppice Wood-Billinge Plants area this morning mobbed by Jackdaws, info thanks to Chris Darbyshire who watched them from his back door!
A Hobby was mobbing a Peregrine high over the vicinity of Coppice Wood this afternoon, the Peregrine returning the favour and diving once at the Hobby. The Hobby drifted SW, the Peregrine N. The latter circled alongside 4 Buzzard, all five birds then drifting NNW. Info thanks to Chris Darbyshire

A Red Kite drifted slowly north today over Higher End, in the company of a Common Buzzard, watched by Chris Darbyshire from his garden between 14:20-14:22

9 Crossbill this morning, in from the E or SE, over Brownlow pine plantation, flying around at height, then descended down the ridge towards Hangmans Wood, Kings Moss

In 1 hr 40 min this morning from the Coppice Wood/Tennyson Drive area 2700 Woodpigeon flew S, 10 Crossbill WSW in two groups of 7 and 3, 246 Fieldfare mainly SW, 2 Black-Tailed Godwit NW. Info thanks to Chris Darbyshire
1 Tree Pipit went south early morning (called three times but I couldnt pick it out in bright blue sky), also 1 Common Gull south At least 18 Tree Sparrow, including a mobile flock of 15
A Red Kite this evening went south-east over the Coppice Wood/Billinge Plants/Tennyson Drive area at 19:35, then circling Windy Arbour area around 19:38 before lost to view going roughly east. Info thanks to Chris Darbyshire
A Hawfinch flew north over the Bonelli's Plantation above Brownlow at 10:10, giving the high-pitched call twice. It then veered off over the border in to St Helens, going down over the ridge. Quiet otherwise, 1 Goldcrest, 3 Tree Sparrow, 1 Brambling heard overhead and a flock of c200 Jackdaw feeding in sheep fields

From Brownlow Lane up to The Bonelli's Plantation and along the ridge to Mountains Fm this morning produced 12 Goldcrest, 2 Chiffchaff, 13 Robin, 12 Blackbird, 2 Song Thrush, 3 Tree Sparrow and 13 Yellowhammer. Prob some local movement of Dunnock going on with 8 counted, inc 4 moving along the hedgerow and wall on top of the ridge.
A little vis mig comprised the following moving south: 38 Meadow Pipit, 10 Skylark (plus 25 down nr Mountain Fm), 6 Chaffinch, 3 Linnet, 2 Siskin
Also 4 Ruddy Shelduck on the pond at Brownlow Farm presumably waiting for a postcard from their pal just down the road at Orrell Water Park
