Called at ASDA near the Etihad Stadium late afternoon. Approx 30-40 birds in one of the trees outside the main doors. More birds constantly coming in too!
Roost building nicely by Wellington on Piccadilly Gardens at 6 this evening; about 50 or 60 already present, and arriving all the time in a steady stream from the roof of the Ask Italian building.
Birds were gathering in the trees along Corporation Street (on either side of the walkway from the Arnedale to M & S) at around 6.30 p.m. No sight or sound of any activity in St. Anne's Square a few minutes later, so another site added to the Central Manchester circuit.
100+ birds settling in to roost at just before seven this evening at their usual spot next to Wellington on Piccadilly Gardens. Still quite active and noisy.
Over 100 birds (I counted 40, and that was significantly fewer than half) roosting in a tree next to the statue of Wellington on Piccadilly Gardens at about 6.30 this evening,
Peel centre Stockport.
At 6.20pm I observed at least 20 pied wagtails going in to roost in a laurel tree at the side of nandos, judging by the noise coming from the tree and the birds flitting around there was consideribly more but it is impossible to get a view in to the tree.
I shall try to watch the roost again and get a better count.
Sat in the traffic lights at the junction of the A56 and Ashfield Road in Sale today at 1645 approx 30 Pied Wagtail entered the four small evergreen trees. Looked to be more birds already in there, with further birds massing on the adjacent rooftops.
Does anyone submit these? Not one of my usual haunts
In a nutshell, no!
A very small handful of observers do to be fair and we're very grateful for them but like many 'reports' on this forum, too many are lost to the annals of time. So please do submit the record David
This roost has been up around 800 strong in previous years!
very noisy in st anns square between 4.40-5.05pm, all the wagtails moving amongst the 3 large trees before eventually settling down. still hard to count but well over 300 birds present.
Just after 8 this evening: At least 21 Pied Wagtail on the car park at Middlebrook Retail Park. As I arrived, they were on the car park near Boots (nearly empty of cars there) and the birds started to fly up onto the CarpetRight and adjoining Boots units.

at least 400 in the larger tree in st anns square this evening at 5.30pm, several of them still feeding on the ground and several in the small trees on the corners. none in albert square.
350+ in the single larger tree in st anns square this evening. yesterday evening there was more than that well over 400 with 6 of them still feeding on the ground at 5.50pm.
All change for the St. Anne's Square birds at 10 p.m. last night, with the bulk of the birds (c250) in the single tree in the middle of the market (quite literally, as the stalls are now built around three sides of it) and smaller numbers in the pair of trees nearer to the Royal Exchange. When we were here last month (Nov 6th) there was no sign of any birds roosting.
a good number of them tonight in st anns square, even though the leaves have fallen it is still hard to count them, but at least 150-200 in the first 2 trees plus another 100+ in the larger single tree, probably now enjoying all the heat from the markets below them.
Pied Wagtails are regularly seen between the cars on the Middlebrook Retail Car Park. There were more tonight than I have seen before. At least 20 going to roost in ones and two's in the direction of Asda's roof. Just before 6pm.

Judging by the numbers present around 21.45 last night that seems like a fairly accurate estimate Steven. I didn't have time to try from several angles and get an average figure but there were at least that number in the three main trees.
Large numbers off pied wagtails in st Annes square tonight, tried to get a count but still a tricky job,I would estimate at least 300,kept losing count in the 200s some even roosting in smaller trees on the corners eventually settling down around 4.45pm. A spectucalar sight.
Unusual sighting of 9 Pied Wagtail in and around the "Arches" car park and the end of Bradshawgate, Leigh on my walk to work this morning. I have suspected for a while there is a roost nearby but never seen so many birds. Mighty cold this morning so I hope they have a good warm roost. ?Possibly somewhere around the tyre business at the far end of the main car park.
