18 Gadwall Still present, plus a male tufted only ducks of note.

Pair of Stock done present. 7 Willow Tit including 5 fledged young - confirmed for the Atlas at long last! Also Tawny Owl and GSW confirmed breeders in this square.

Whitethroats all over, and lots of young Blue and Long-tailed tits.

Also had a Siskin at Whitefield Golf club on the way home.

A good mooch round this morning was very fruitless the ponds were 97% frozen and the woods and fields were very quiet.

Shoveler 4, Goldeneye 2, Canada's 4, Teal 9 + 7 on river, 4 Goosanders flew over and single Little Grebe Also on river.

Single lapwing back in the stubble field with 5 Stock dove and about 100 woodpigeons. No finches, buntings or winter thrushes at all.

Hundreds of Herring and GBBG flying NE

In the woods Bullfinch 2, Willow Tit 2, Pheasant 5 & GSW

Why wasnt WeBS this weekend!

Good do today with lots of ducks.

Gadwall 70 (think this could be a site record? certainly a personal one)

Mute Swan 2 ad and 2 well grown young (must have been hiding last week)

Green Sand and Snipe (1st time seen this autumn!!) - very over grown for these 2 species now - one of the pools nearset the motorway has dried up exposing lots of mud.

Kestrel, 2 Bullfinch and a Willow Tit

Mute Swan 2 ad - the well grown young seen last time not with ads - not sure whats happened to them?!

Canada Goose 386 flushed from fields by Helicopter single Greylag with them.
House Martin 56 NW,

Massive tit flock containing at least 54 Blue tit, 4 coal tit, willow tit, 15+ Great tit, 27 LTT, 10 Chiffchaff and a Willow Warbler

2/08 mid morning visit water level very high and the vegitation even higher (over 7ft in places) so not alot about!

4 Teal, 4 tufted Duck, 8 Little Grebe, 7 Gadwall, Willow Tit, GSW, Treecreeper, Singing Yellowhammer, 2 Kestrel, spahawk and 5 Swift

12/07/09 Afternoon visit

Gadwall 6 with now 5 broods 21 young in total
Teal 2
Tufted Duck 30
Mallard 68 with 6 broods 33 young in total
Mute Swan pair have 4 well grown cygnets
Little Grebe 12 inc at least 2 juv's
Coot and Moorhen also have well grown young

Blackcap, Whitethroat and Chiffchaff still singing, Sedge Warbler Seen, Linnet, Goldfinch and Greenfinch also visting nest sights other than that very very quiet

2 mealy redpolls ! first for me ! in the hedgerows then flew across the moterway to phillips park.

thanks for the quick reply mate, i go down here most days and seen quiet a few nice birds.
know i know what part of ringly you are refering to i will post my sightings here !
Kestrels used to be on there most days but gone for a while now ? know what happend ?

Seen the first swallow here today this year and when looking through my records they are practicly ONE MONTH ear;y than last year ! strange ?

Duck numbers now reduced but couldnt cover the whole site.

Ploughed fields phillips park road west Redwing 100, Mpipit 12, Goldfinch 5.

Also there was a Roe deer carcus along the main track by the treatment works entrance looked as tho it had been feasted on as all that was left was fur, the legs spine and rib cage!

Managed to get my WeBS done despite spending the morning in A&E and then having to be rescued from a stuck lift by the firebrigade in the afternoon!

No sign Little Egrets at Shore Top suprise suprise but 1 Shoveler and 1 Teal on small pool and 6 G C Grebes on res with 1 young one.

Spent a few hours down there this afternoon and its certainly starting to feel a bit like Autumn with the ducks building up:-

Lillte Grebe now 24 inc young birds... possibly 2 more chicks on the southern pool which were out of sight.
