After a 'tour' of the Sefton coast today, imagine my surprise after calling into Crosby Marina and setting my scope up against the railings looking into Seaforth, when the very first bird I look at is an adult Roseate Tern Now I realise there had been one around afew weeks ago (no news since then though) but that bird was ringed and this one wasn't but wait a minute...there's another one next to it and that one is ringed They showed well sat around on the causeway and occasionally flying around and I managed a couple of reasonable record shots considering the distance I was from them, put 'em on the bird info services and left a happy chappie.
Also there was a single 1st summer Little Gull, around a dozen 1st summer Kittewakes, perhaps 20 Sandwich Terns and plenty of Common Terns.
