RE: White Tailed Lapwing

Had distant views yesterday (Sunday), from the road. Heat haze was causing problems. As is often the case, just as you get home you find out it's moved to somewhere else, giving supposedly better views!

Oh well, good to see the Peregrines at Warton. One of the two youngsters took it's first flight yesterday.

Good but distant views today - from the causeway, the road and best late on from the Eric Morecambe hide.

Only a hunch - but I think it has itchy feet so don't leave it too late....

Yes its worth going to see, not been one in the UK since 1984. Its commuting between the causeway and a pool only viewable from the junction south of visitor centre on road to eric morecombe pools smile.gif

Might go for this this afternoon. Apparently in a field near reserve yesterday, and still there this morning.

Now apparently 'belting' around the reserve by the sounds of it...hmm.gif

Well it appears its definately still there on land just past the public hide from the little bridge, early afternoon today at least, that will be interesting, swarms of people fighting on the causeway to look down a narrow channel.

Read the story of Tom Mckinneys trip to Caerlaverock for White Tailed Plover, its very funny and very true, (personal experience) if you dont mind the expletives.

No further sign today, maybe its half way back to Asia or Kazakhstan, it could quite possibly still be in the UK though.

No problem Ian glad i was of assistance, i was suprised to see the car park still having 2 or 3 places left smile.gif Didnt realise you were so close behind us, hehe.

We went back to the Eric Morecambe hide for abit and had Greenshank and a few Avocets/Blackwits. The spoonbill was only visible from warton cragg.

The approach road was gridlock when we left, it was nice to see some old faces from Derbys but they were too late.

Cheers for the text updates Simon, especially the one concerning the car parking availability, which was a bit of a worry at the time, seems like we were so quick on our feet though that we beat them all there...and just in time too wink.gif

I think you deserved that one pal, so good on yer.
