There's been a Firecrest about for a couple of weeks only heard up to today when I managed to get a brief glimpse of it after a phone call from a friend who had just seen it.It is very elusive ,directions are as follows.Turn off the East Lancs Road,down Higher Green Lane,approx 400yds on the left is Whitehead Lane,park here.Go round side of wire netted gate along lane for a couple of 100yds,the bird has been seen in the small copse where the lane turns right.It also gets along this lane in the hedgerow,Ive also heard it in my next neighbours back garden so it is covering a large area.Good luck.
