Pete Berry and I ventured out onto Chat Moss, albeit rather briefly today and the first large stubble field on your right (heading south) past Olive Tree Farm (which is the one after the one with a canal barge outside!) looked especially promising with a large flock of over 300 Linnets, large numbers of Corvids and Stock Doves and plenty of Chaffinches in the area, also a reasonable flock of Lesser Redpolls in the Birch before Olive Tree Farm (where the pig field is on your right). Large congregations, especially like the Linnets which were almost constantly 'wheeling' over the stubble must surely attract a Merlin or two, although actually catching it dashing through the flock might be a long wait there are some nice looking fences around there which might be put to good use as a perch for one!
