Certainly 2 and possibly 3 parakeets on January 2nd. Thought they might be hard to find but they were calling continually and easy enough to track down.
Today in the cemetery I noticed 20 redwings. They flitted between the leafless tall trees and the a berry rich holly on the northern perimeter. Right next to the tarmac road, car window down to watch the feeding thrushes. Great way to spend a lunch hour taking photos!
Also heard a nuthatch again.

Two ring necked parakeets again today (and two birdwatchers)!
Recently there has occasionally been 3 birds. The 3rd bird has no neck ring and a shorter tail so is I presume is either a female adult or a juvenile. Just to further complicate the situation there was a third bird when they all first arrived in the cemetery very early in March.
A flock of about 10 fieldfares flew over with their distinctive flight call.
For the second time this week parakeets have been present. Early in the week I had a brief glimpse of what I took as a juvenile in flight. On Friday 3 parakeets took flight from a tall tree top heading towards Bradford St direction. I'm assuming it was the 2 adults and a this year's juvenile. They didn't breed here in the cemetery but close by presumably.
Today: The ring necked parakeet pair hunkered down against the wind and rain. Female in the nest hole a lot, male out and about. Males plumage very smart now.
Yesterday: Checked twice - no sign.
Monday: Both ring necked parakeets on territory again

....... And ring necked parakeet pair there again today, still around their preferred woodpecker hole at 12.45 today before taking flight towards the nearby wooded river area.
At lunchtime today the pair of ring necked parakeets still present. Female still in and out of the old woodpecker hole still. They have explored another nearby hole too. The 3rd parakeet seems to be absent now.
At 12.15 today 3 ring necked parakeets were at Tonge Cemetery on Cemetery Road Bolton. They were still there content and preening at 12.50 when I left. Two of them have been mating and using an unused old Gtr Spotted Woodpecker nest. The local magpies and crows are showing an interest in the new noisy neighbours. I have photo and video of these green beauties. Hopefully they have moved in for spring breeding - I will be checking again tomorrow lunchtime too.
