Just a thought, but if/when the tower hide is replaced after the fire, that might be appropriate ...

This is a shock, I don't visit Risley Moss very often, but when I did Peter was usually there and he'd update me on the latest sightings.
We could chat for ages about birds and wildlife in the area, his knowledge was incredible.
A devout conservationist with a real passion for wildlife, especially birds. Peter was truly an icon at Risley Moss.
Visits to the moss will never be the same again, perhaps a hide at a local reserve should be named in his honour.

Yes, a great loss. I haven't bumped into him for a couple of years, but he was always full of enthusiasm & humour, and a great source of local information. RIP

Just had some very sad news from Eddie King L.O.S. recorder :- Hi all I have just received some very sad news that Peter Hilton has died. He was taken into hospital some days ago I presume with the chest problems he had. For those who knew Peter, he was a gentleman and he will be missed by many. I have no information to date re the funeral, when I have I will pass this on... Eddie

Peter was an amazing ornithologist his meticulous species records were a delight to see, he was a constant at Risley Moss and recorded there for many years, we are all the poorer, for his demise  David S
