Thanks Pete. It was probably Edge Lane where I saw it, around the bend just before Ryland House, it flew across left to right. The most exiting things I've had in my garden were a herd of Blackcaps in my tree, Mistle Thrushes doing aeriel acrobatics and Jackdaws which walk everywhere in a very comical manner. My ambition is to see a Hoopoe - but I doubt it'll be in Chorlton!
Hi Linda, Crickey that's exactly where I live and no I didn't see or here anything unusual here yesterday. Cuckoo has been seen nearby at Chorlton Ees in the past, as recently as a couple of years ago I think.
High Lane extends from Barlow moor Rd to the junction of St. Clements Rd and Manchester Rd then becomes Edge Lane which then runs through Stretford up towards Urmston.
I've lived at 3 (or4) different addresses in this exact vicinity over the past 23 years and had Firecrest, Redstart, Wood warbler and Spotted Flycatcher etc in gardens, but never a Cuckoo.

While driving to Stretford this morning, a cuckoo flew across High Lane a short distance in front of me. It was just before the Wilbraham Rd. traffic lights. I have never seen one before but I recognised immediately it by the striped underbelly and the shape and markings on it's tail. Has anyone else seen one here? I am new to this forum and am enjoying the members contributions very much, thank you all.
