I think you may be relating to Pomona Docks Simon, in which case yes the Skylarks have been here for a while but only just hanging on, 1-2 pairs. This site is threatened with development by Peel Holdings so make the most of them while you can! It's a great spot considering the proximity of the site to the city centers of both Salford and Manchester. Was out jogging on the canal from Castlefield to Salford Quays last night when I was staggered to see a skylark singing away. Looks like the waste/derelict ground across from the tramline is perfect habitat. Plus whitethroat + willow warbler singing away in the scrub along the canal. Have the skylarks been there for a long time?
