RE: Buzzard in Monton/Eccles area?

Hello...so is this the Buzzard I saw looking East from Urmston at noonish Monday 11.7.11? I'm a forester rarely in town, but it looks and soars just like the Buzzards I know from the woods.....

Alan, can confirm your sighting is a Harris Hawk. Has a regular perch on a lampost of the M602 Eccles/Monton turnoff heading away fron Manchester. Only has one jesse attached now.

You might be right Rob, I'm only assuming it's a buzzard. As a matter of interest it has again just flown over my house two minutes ago. I wish it would develop a taste for pigeons, they are a pest in my garden.
Cheers,
Alan.

I wonder if this might be the Harris Hawk that has been seen from time to time, it is Buzzard sized, with a longer tail and conspicuous white patch on the upper tail?

Over the last five weeks I have noticed a large falcon which I presume is a buzzard. It is usually being mobbed by the local crows and magpies. Yesterday (8th June) I saw it four times. This bird must have escaped from someone as it has a ;I think it is called a jessie, hanging from its leg. The area seen in is between Eccles centre and Monton.
