what a great day out today. Started in the garden first ever redpoll on feeders in the garden along with gold finch, green finch, chaffinch, blue tit, coal tit,great tit,longtailed tit, magpies mobing collared doves and wood piegeons, gold crest in the silver birch also robin, dunnock, blackbird,song thrush, wren, and starlings, house sparows busy nesting across the road. 11.00-2.00pm went out to smiths road res they have just been cleaned out for fishing what a mess but the birds are there all the same a pair of mute swans looks like they could nest along with canada geese and coots a lone oystercatcher there to.over the road is an area of mosses gate country park not visited much except by gipsys feeding there horses it was alive with willow warblers, chiff chaffs, and a black cap sing there heads off lapwing and pheasant also there down on the river there was goosander 1 male and 2 female went back at 7.00pm to see a kingfisher thats 30 today not bad for a built up area with only 7 probable and 5 confirmed breeding shure i can do better before the year is out. graeme
