Very pleasant but fairly quiet early afternoon visit
2 female Blackcaps. Great Spotted Woodpeckers calling but not seen. Several Woodpigeons including 1 juvenile. Coot and Moorhen both with chicks/young. Many Goldfinch. 2 juvenile Robins.
2 Greenfinches 6 Goldfinches 1 male and 2 female Chaffinches. 1 male Bullfinch. Several parties of Great Tits, Blue Tits and Long-tailed Tits including juveniles of each. Blackbirds, Dunnocks and Wrens throughout. 2 Song Thrushes. Many Carrion Crows and Magpies. 1 Jackdaw overhead. Several calling Great Spotted Woodpeckers only 1 seen in flight. Several Nuthatches calling. 1 Treecreeper. Many Chiffchaffs including at least 3 juveniles. 1 Male Blackcap and 2 juveniles. 11 Whitethroats including 5 juveniles. 12 Mallards. 2 Moorhens with 1 chick. 1 Little Grebe. Many Woodpigeons including several juveniles. House Sparrows around car park.

First visit to Gatley Carrs since the landscaping work has been completed around the pond.
Collared Dove Plenty of Blackbirds, Blue Tits, Great Tits and Robins Small family of 8 Long-tailed Tits Dunnocks and Wrens - singing everywhere Magpies, Carrion Crows and Woodpigeons all around the park 4 Goldfinch 2 Greenfinch 1 male Chaffinch bathing in small stream and many other males and females around Mallards - 2/3 pairs Moorhen - 2 Coot- 1 Little Grebe - 1 Nuthatch - 1 seen, several others heard Blackcap - 1 male Chiffchaff - 1 seen and others heard Starlings - 6
Also visited Scholes Park on the south side of Gatley village (Gatley Carrs being on the north side) which has a similar habitat to the Carrs - mature mixed woodland and open spaces, with small brook running through.
Similar woodland/parkland species seen with highlight of several Blackcaps, Willow Warblers, Chiffchaff and Nuthatches and up to 30 Starlings
Quick visit this morning. Landscaping and renovation work being carried in and around the pond (for next week) meant little bird activity - 1 Moorhen and 2 Mallard. Around rest of parkland were usual tits, finches, robins, wrens and dunnocks.
Only addition to previous visit were 2 Collared Doves and single House Sparrow.
Blackbird Blue Tit Great Tit Long-tailed Tit Dunnock Wren - singing everywhere Magpie Woodpigeon Goldfinch - largest flock of 12 Greenfinch Chaffinch Bullfinch - at least 4 male and a couple of female Jay Mallard - 3 pairs Teal - 2 drake and 1 duck seen amongst the reeds from the dipping pond Grey Heron - 2 on island on pond, but both flew off nothwards after a while Moorhen - 4 Coot- 3 Little Grebe - 1 Buzzard - 1 dropped in to trees on western fringe to be immediately mobbed by Crows and magpies. Carrion Crow - many Siskin - 8 Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1f Jackdaw - 1 overhead Nuthatch Robin.
A pleasant stroll on a lovely sunny day - an area not visited for years but will put this on on my list for regular future visits. Nice walk around Gatley Carrs this morning Heron Willow warbler 3 Blackcaps,1which was tailess Jay Cormarant flying over Blue flash out of the corner of my eye,so presume it was a Kingfisher.
Very quiet on Gatley Hill just a very vocal Wren testing his lungs. Gatley Carrs Snipe Meadow Pipit 4 Canada Geese 4 Mallard moorhen Heron plus a very large Toad at the dipping pond
