Late night leg stretch on Mottram Road .... 23.30 hrs. Plenty of territorial Tawny Owl activity from Bower Fold / Early Bank / Cheethams Park. Think I could be confident of at least 5 separate males calling.
Roger.

A family party of at least 5 Coal Tit was present in the trees outside the "top Astley" in Dukinfield this afternoon. Also three to four Blackbird singing and a couple of Goldfinch twittering.
Queuing for Tesco after work at about 5pm in Stalybridge when could hear a gull mobbing a bird, turned out to be a peregrine, possibly one of the ones that haunts around the tip road.
A Blackcap was singing loudly somewhere along the close this morning and a pair of Dunnock were looking for food in a neighbouring garden. Also on the way to Asda I saw a Swift and Grey Heron.
Super 20 minutes watching the Tame between Bayley Street and the canal aquaduct at 6pm.
Difficult to count as they were moving so fast, but at least 4 Swallow, 8 Sand Martin and 2 House Martin enjoying the flies, as well as 5 Grey Wagtail and 2 Pied Wagtail.
This morning a Dipper was singing on the river near Asda, but unfortunately it was hidden by the foliage. Also two Sand Martin above the railway line and a Blackcap singing from the back of Asda car park.
As part of the Oldham Birders virtual trip, I visited Dukinfield Cemetery. It was the wrong time of day really, but there were plenty of birds singing
The most unexpected bird for me was a redhead Goosander flying up the River Tame. It's quite unusual to see these here this late into April.
The rest of the species were common birds that I would normally expect to see when I'm doing on my BBS.
Chiffchaff - one singing and flycatching just above the footpath Great Spotted Woodpecker seen in flight - my first lockdown sighting A Chaffinch was singing just outside the cemetery gates, I've not heard the one on my close today, maybe this is the same bird. Greenfinch - plenty of these around in song flight display
Other species: Magpie, Long-tailed Tit, Wren, Robin, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Dunnock, Mistle Thrush, Nuthatch Great Tit, Blue Tit, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, Woodpigeon, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Bullfinch, Sand Martin
A Chaffinch was singing across the road from the house, I've seen a lot of comments about there being low numbers of Chaffinch around. This was my first singing locally.
A Mistle Thrush and Herring Gull flew across Crescent Road and two Collared Dove were also present.
Greenfinch in display flight and the Great Spotted Woodpecker was again hiding out of sight.
