twice this week ive seen a buzzard in the giants hall-taylor pit area.dont know if its resident.saw it tuesday evening and lunchtime today.also on the fields by swinley coal washes the hay has gone and the fields were full of birds.100+starling,20+mistle thrushes.also small groups of greenfinches,linnets and goldfinches.around the farm building and stables by the washes were at least 100 swallows mostly juveniles.they must have had a good year as not normally this numerous.finally a green woodpecker in the tall trees at the boars head side of the coal spoil.all round a most enjoyable day.i even got some sunshine.
