I went out for a walk this evening there with the missus and the dogs... so although 'not meant to be birding' I did keep having 'a sly glance'... saw the Grebe & young... also quite a few Common Tern flew over... apart from that can't really say much... squinting certainly is no substitute for the bins eh - but I'm banned from taking them when with the family, so nowt I can do there eh?

Regards!

Neil.

Thought I'd pop back in and add to this thread.

Re birding... I'm out and about when I can... Pennington Flash (was there yesterday and today a.m.), Wigan Flashes, Martin Mere etc.

T'other week I got round to getting a hide clamp for my 'scope instead of 'resting it' and viewing - it's certainly made a hell of a difference I have to say!

Still on the lookout for the 'elusive Kingfisher' - just seen re: Pennington Flash in the 'County' section... I reckon that' I'm just unlucky so far... maybe the Kingfishers and I can schedule to be at the same place at the same time in future!

Right - that's my two pennorth anyhow - I'll keep looking in here (have been doing regularly even though not posting) and hopefully contribute more.

Regards.

Neil.

Welcome on board Neil - I'm sure you'll find us a warm and welcoming (if sometimes quirky) bunch.

Amazing the number of people go to Three Sisters birding, yet I've never seen anyone else there with a pair of Bins round their neck.

In which case, I'll be easy to identify then! :D

Nice to meet you Craig - and to Ian: cheers for pointing me in the direction of this forum - belting!

Appreciated!

N.

P.S. One thing though... can you do something about the weather - I'm wanting to try my new 'scope out - but I'm too marred to go out in the rain currently! :D

Alreet Neil,

Glad you made it onto this forum (it is the only one you`ll ever need !) but don`t forget, this is only a part of the main web-site - loads more for you to explore...

There is a big Wigan contingent on here, (plus some Lobby-gobblers, but don`t let that put you off), so you`ll fit right in ! Have fun mooching around, and we`ll hopefully see you ont Flashes.........wink.gif

Apologies for the nickname (if my name's here as 'Chewbaxter') - I'm trying to change it to my full name - Neil Baxter... hopefully it'll be sorted a.s.a.p.

Regards.

Neil.

"What's a Wigan Bird?"

No... you know what I mean.

Howdo from me - Neil - was told about this site by a member of another forum I go on - belting - it'll do for me, as I'm keen on mooching around Pennington Flash and 3 Sisters... also, it's not been all that long I've been into 'Birding' specifically... all fuelled by my seeing a Grey Wagtail on the River Dougie... I'm hooked now!

Shame though - at 36, I've been missing out on all this... mind you - better late than never!

:)

Nice to be here - all the best.

Neil.
