Another new bird for my flixton garden, a great spotted woodpecker this morning, first seen on the fence at the back of the garden then onto my washing line post but was then spooked by the magpies & up into my neighbours birch tree then soon flew off.
Not an accurate count due to trees but 60+ Pink-footed geese over at 12.15pm heading west/north west.
A new bird to my flixton garden list this morning, a female blackcap, it was feeding in the neighbours gardens birch tree but bypassed my garden, hopefully it will see the fatballs. Also this morning a male chaffinch & a stock dove amongst the usual house sparrows, starlings, goldfinches & collared doves. 2 blue tits 2 coal tits 1 dunnock 1 robin There has been 2 goldcrest & a chiffchaff recently.
Within 5 minutes of posting the female blackcap was feeding in my holly tree & then into my neighbours garden.

In the back garden this afternoon....
5 Pheasants, all female, presumably the farmer has put fresh stock down for shooting
Also a Ring Necked Parakeet (still a rare bird here)
2 Nuthatch on the feeders, plus plenty of Blue,Great, Coal Tits on them as well as 20 + Goldfinch, 6 Greenfinch, and a single Chaffinch.
Thanks to the text alert I've just had 8 Great White Egrets from the garden. Headed out from Audenshaw Reservoir and lost to view near the Chadderton/Oldham area.
Bury . Just now , in the apple tree outside the kitchen , observing and listening to the song of a lovely chiffchaff ! Not heard them here since spring . Wonder if he is on his way or a stayer.
Sunday 22.09.24 at 7.55am (wet) on and around my Stretford backyard feeders were 70 Goldfinch. With the sunny weather there's not been many turning up over the last couple of weeks but amongst those that have was an adult Goldfinch with Cauliflower type growths on both it's feet and with double sized claws, but it was still feeding. A Sparrowhawk was also seen again last week unsuccessfully attacking Woodpigeons across the street feeding on Rowan berries.
A jay is another new bird for my flixton garden this morning. 2 chiffchaffs this morning, plenty of calling from them, one of them singing. Thought I may of had a willow warbler on Monday but only seen very briefly, looked bigger & brighter than chiffchaff, no call heard. 7 meadow pipits over this morning. A raven over yesterday.
Late morning today in the Astley garden saw a fair sized flock of Long-tailed Tits moving through along with two Chiffchaffs (one singing a little later on) and best of all a Treecreeper. Also almost 20 Meadow Pipits moving south in one and twos and five local Buzzards in the air together over the field at the bottom of the garden too.
Whitefield. I was woken up this morning around 6am to the sound of a random pheasant on my street. It continued for a good while but I drifted back off. Merlin app confirmed it for me though as I tend to question myself if I'm half asleep. 8.30am. Heard parakeets fly past but didn't see how many this time.
Bird number 50 for my flixton garden, Pink-footed geese 40+ heading south easterly at 5.54pm. Nice to see after only hearing them over back in February.
Again not many birds ( Goldfinch) on or around my Stretford backyard feeders yesterday but a Sparrowhawk did make an unsuccessful attempt at catching one of the feral pigeons picking up seed at the base of the feeders.
Not many Goldfinch on or around my Stretford backyard feeders today ( 04.09.24) but there was a newly fledged youngster being fed by a parent on the telephone wires above the feeders.
