Visited this woodland for the first time today. It is actually part of my one of my tetrads for the BTO Atlas survey. Didn't get chance to visit here during formal surveys - so thought would pay a visit this afternoon. Well worth it!
In Lords Wood - 1 Treecreeper, 1 Nuthatch, 2 Coal Tit, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker and 1 Kingfisher on the pond in the middle of this woodland!! Also 8 Mallard and 2 Moorhen. A Grey Partridge called several times from grassland just to the west of the woodland but I could not locate it. A party of 7 Reed Bunting were close by. Would like to have "got" Tawny Owl and Woodcock as well but I guess you can't have everything!
On the fields between Lords Wood and Hopwood Woods/Glade Wood there were masses of birds!
A mixed flock of 300+ thrushes included - 180+ Redwing - this is a conservative estimate - I actually gave up counting at this figure - although it will be a high percentage of the birds present, the figure was probably well in excess of 200. 110+ Starling also here and less than 10 Fieldfare. Not forgetting 55+ Woodpigeon, 45+ Rook and 80+ Jackdaw and the odd Carrion Crow. And loads of rabbits!
