I forgot to add that the bird had gone by 01/01/08 and I have checked since and it has not been present. (just to save a lot of birders wasting their time)
I along with my wife found the scaup, but as we are both novices, I didn't report it on this site. I sent a text to a friend of mine who is well known to you, and he confirmed it the day after.
Have received a report of a female Scaup at Blackleach Resr Dec 30th, seen by 2 reliable observers, per voluntary warden. This is probably the bird displaced from Ringley sewage works by the ice in mid month.
